It’s so hard to believe that school starts back for most kids this week!  It seems like summer just began!  Along with public school starting back, we at Northwood begin our second year of weekday preschool ministry:  MAPS (Moms Away.  Preschooler Stay).  I am so excited about our second year as we begin the endeavor of a five day per week program!

Today, I want to share with you our vision for a weekday preschool.  About two years ago, I began to notice that more and more parents were coming to the same conclusion:  it is SO HARD to be the parent of a preschooler.  It is EXHAUSTING having a little one with you all the time with never a moment to yourself.  It is a MUST that parents of preschoolers meet other preschool parents to talk about raising preschoolers and the challenges and joys of doing so.  Parents need some time to run errands, relax, and take care of themselves but they want a safe, fun place for their preschooler.  Our solution:  MAPS.

MAPS is not primarily an educational facility!  While we do follow strict preschool guidelines to prepare preschoolers for Kindergarten, we are about much more!  Preschoolers at MAPS experience Bible stories presented in a way that they can understand, they make crafts, and we have activities each week on the Northwood campus for preschoolers.  From wagon rides to face painting to firetruck visits to petting zoos, MAPS kids experience it all right here at Northwood!  For parents, we provide a quick breakfast to grab on the go each week and provide opportunities for roundtable discussions for parents of preschoolers.

I really believe God has called the Preschool Ministry of this church to minister to preschoolers and their parents throughout the week!  I am looking forward to meeting the parents of preschoolers that the Lord sends our way this year!  If you are interested in enrolling your preschooler, shoot me an email to david@rightdirections.org or check out the website www.rightdirections.org.
